To get even more into the atmosphere of the book, at the event, thanks to the Embassy of Brazil in Romania, we will enjoy a series of specific dishes.

On a plantation in Bahia, in the rural and poor north of Brazil, two sisters find an old knife under their grandmother's bed. Fascinated by the brilliance of the blade, they make a reckless gesture, as a result of which one of them will become the voice of the other. Over time, the universe of their childhood changes: the apparent harmony maintained by their father, the local healer, between workers and landowners, between the living and the dead falls apart, and in its place the demands of the new generation appear, until, disturbingly, the future of the entire community ends up playing on a knife's edge. Itamar Vieira Junior writes, in the cadences of a modern fairy tale, about love, ancient beliefs, family and slavery, weaving everything into a story in which it is precisely the silence of the voiceless that gives relief to the words.

"A masterpiece about injustice, love, and human dignity, reminiscent of Les Misérables or The Fruits of Wrath." - Americas Quarterly
